Mission Statement

Haus of Improv is dedicated to teaching students and professionals the techniques of improvisational acting as a valuable art form and tool for cultivating creativity, collaboration and communication skills.

The foundation of Haus of Improv is built upon well-rounded, diverse theater artists dedicated to creating a positive, FUN and safe environment that encourages a community spirit for active, supportive and engaging learning in residency programs and workshops.

We value the building blocks of improvisation and its fundamentals, knowing any group or individual that can communicate at a high level, can overcome any obstacle.

History

Haus of Improv was founded by Steve Hohman and Olivia Espinosa in 2015, as a response to seeing the opportunity for the practical application of improvisational acting techniques to improve communication skills for professionals and students alike.

Together they bring over 20 years of experience working in arts education, while also working as professional actors. As working theatre artists, Steve brings an expertise as a trained improvisational actor and the Managing Director of The National Comedy Theatre in San Diego, while Olivia is a trained stage actor and director with a multitude of professional credits that also include her past roles as Education Program Manager for notable arts organizations in Southern California.

Using their combined background, they have created programs rooted in improvisational acting to help students of all ages increase their ability to unlock their creativity, enhance active listening skills and work collaboratively.
